Wow, so there went a month!
After returning from Japan, I had to go right back to work. And then Owen’s parents came to visit. They just left about a week and a half ago. It’s been non-stop.
The last two weeks, Owen had been experiencing something awfully similar to what he experienced when we found out he needed emergency craniotomy. He had his appointment today with his neurologist, Dr. V.
Dr. V told Owen that what he experienced were partial seizures. He said that Owen’s new anti-seizure medication was not the culprit. He said that these seizures are caused by tumors or brain swelling. So our focus is now on his next MRI and an EEG that Dr. V ordered. Dr. V upped Owen’s anti-seizure medication dosage.
The most difficult thing for Owen today was hearing Dr. V say that Owen cannot drive. He reminded Owen that it is illegal to drive until he has had 90 days seizure-free. If you know Owen, this hits him straight in the heart.
The second most difficult thing that Owen heard was that he couldn’t fly alone. Dr. V said that I had to travel with him so that I could be his nurse. Owen had bought tickets to fly to Rhode Island at the end of this month… and I can’t go. I have no leave days.
So I told his mother that the trip needed to be postponed.
Owen says he wants to talk to me about both of these difficult things…
I am going to contact Owen’s radiology oncologist, Dr. D, to tell him what has been happening. We will see if he wants to move the MRI to the left.
After the appointment, we continued onto Katy to see the Munchkin and the Muffin. Owen needs time with the girls.
