After Owen was discharged from the hospital on Friday, April 10, we saw his neurosurgeon that next Tuesday, April 14. Dr. B told us that he believed the best course of action was to go back in and remove the area that was causing concern.

So his second craniotomy was scheduled for April 24.

It happened to be a pretty busy week. The Munchkin and the Muffin were moving out of Katy to San Antonio on the 22nd.

Because I couldn’t be in two places at once, we asked Owen’s parents to come down to help because I had to run Owen to all his pre-op appointments and testing this week.

Owen’s surgery was yesterday afternoon. Dr. B felt he got as much of the concerned area out.

It’s been 17 hours since he was rolled back to the ER and it’s been a rough recovery because he is in a lot of pain and the nurses have been chasing this pain all night.

Owen ate some food but not the pot roast that he was hoping for. Recovery has been a different experience this time around.

He is talking well. But time will tell how much this surgery will impact his memory and other cognitive functions.

The hospital chair was not very comfortable to sleep on but it wasn’t much of a sleep with the staff coming in every few hours with medication and vitals check.
