93. Three weeks Post Op, May 15 2026

It’s been a bit chaotic and I had no time to think to myself. Here we are a few weeks after Owen’s second craniotomy.

The pathology came back to reveal that the cancer was back. Half of the specimen was tumor, and the other half was necrosis.

The Radiology Oncologist and Neurosurgeon both agreed that radiation treatment was no longer an option.

Medical Oncology decided to stop the chemo because it stopped working. They also presented three courses of action for continued treatment.

1.) Push to get Owen into MD Anderson for a clinical trial;

2.) Push to get Owen into a UT Health clinical trial;

3.) Have BAMC start a new chemo treatment.

I was surprised. I had been asking for MD Anderson after Owen’s first operation and somewhat lost hope for getting him into any clinical trial.

And MD Anderson jumped into the picture real fast. Within a week from talking to Medical Oncology, MDA requested and received all records from Methodist and BAMC.

But we still haven’t gotten Tricare approval yet.

We are working that now.

Things with Owen are very different.

His speech was remarkable after the surgery. And his attitude and mental space was better too.

But his impulse controls are nonexistent.

We have had so many contractors at the house fixing/installing stuff… Packages arriving at the house…. And it all comes from a desire for Owen to have a marketable home to sell.

I took three weeks of leave for Owen’s care and now I’ve returned back to work. I can see his mental place declining.

But the Munchkin and the Muffin are here. And that’s a new element that we didn’t have before.

The Munchkin says she’d come and walk with Owen in the mornings but that hasn’t happened yet. I hope they start that up soon.

The Munchkin has moved her and the Muffin to San Antonio and now it’s the search for a local job. She is still working at her job in Katy for a little bit longer but the in office requirement is something she can’t perform anymore with it being three hour away. Praying she finds something soon.

Her schedule starts at noon and goes till 9 pm on weekdays so I have been picking the Muffin up from school. The Muffin is doing great at her new school. She has dance on Tuesday mornings, sports on Thursday mornings, and swim school on Thursday nights. The Muffin loves her swim class!

Life has been a little hairy for me.

And I’m praying for strength.
