Week one is done today. He will be R5, C8 (fifth radiation treatment, eighth chemo). There were two notable days of nausea and fatigue seems to be the new norm. Energy to be outside of the house is just enough to run for a bite to eat. BUT he has brought down the wall and has started to engage more with others on the phone and over text. This has been good for his heart and mind.
We start the last week of quiet in the house because come 1 July, a few packers will be here to pack items in the furniture that must move. If y’all know me well, you know that means pottery. If y’all know Owen well, that means antiques and a lot of glass. We give out a tired laugh because we still have boxes from our move. While we know the average seasoned PCSer is unpacked from their international move within six months, we are that outlier that busts those statistics. And that’s what we will be…. STATISTIC BUSTERS and NOT THE AVERAGE… in all things.
Y’all will be happy to know that while Owen is more fatigued, he still demonstrated strong passenger driver skills. LOL. While it is easier to not have to deal with TX drivers directly, dealing with me dealing with TX drivers has to be a challenge 😂.
It’s also quite the challenge to have driving privileges revoked.
The efforts that Owen has made in the backyard within this first year back in Texas has really paid off. He had our pergola covered with a polycarbonate roofing and had screens put up for those hours when the sun is a blazing. We are totally enjoying the backyard. It’ll be the front row seats to the firework display come the fourth. These folks out here are no joke. We believe that everyone feels there is a display competition. Wished we had a drone so you can see the craziness that is a firework holiday.
Today is haircut day. Y’all didn’t know I cut Owen’s hair on a weekly, huh. I graduated from the school of YouTube, Cum Laude. It takes me a little longer because of his craniotomy scar. He doesn’t have feeling around it but I am not trying to get too close.
Mindless entertainment is good right now. We finished watching the second season of the Traitors (on Peacock if you dare). And now Misa has us watching something similar called the Mole.
Starting week 2. Summer of 2024, good riddance. Let this summer be quick.
