It’s Friday.
Wednesday was a difficult day for us. Difficult for Owen because everything was an irritant. Difficult for me because I couldn’t do anything to make it better. As a matter of fact, I seemed to make everything worse.
Yesterday was a super busy but productive day. We started the morning with Dr. B, Owen’s neurosurgeon. We always look forward to seeing him. He is just a good person to be around. Dr. B expressed that he was frustrated because he wanted Owen treated elsewhere for radiation but then started asking for the names of his Radiology and Medical Oncologist. He was very much relieved to hear about Owen’s Radiology Oncologist. Owen’s labs and his post-op MRI gave Dr. B some more excitement. Owen has been concerned about the weight he’s packed on since the surgery but Dr. B was going to be one of a few people this day to tell him to eat all the bacon he wanted and to not be concerned about his weight. The biggest thing that Owen got yesterday was clearance from Dr. B to drive to the QT down the street (doc said two block radius). This stresses me out!!!! You all know Owen did not hear the two block radius rule and thinks he’s good to go 😣. With his temper going zero to 60 in a nanosecond, I am scared because of the drivers he will encounter. I have always known Californians to be horribly aggressive drivers. I actually claimed that title too. But then I moved to Texas…. where the roads are a whole lot like the Hunger Games. I don’t trust other drivers and I am not sure that I trust Owen around those drivers that could care less about what they are doing. Fantastic news for Owen, not so happy news for me.
Next, we went to the hospital to get R8.
After R8, we went downtown to the Tax Assessor’s office, to update his driving records to reflect he is permanently disabled.
And then off we went to the VA hospital to schedule an appointment.
It was a full day of running around all of San Antonio. And good Lord, it is hot.
When we got home, it was all attention on Lily and Poppy. I needed to schedule their wellness checks and vaccinations. And I then scheduled their spa day to get their nails done, lol.
I am mentally exhausted. But it’s mind over matter.
Today marks the end of week two of radiation treatment and 30 more days of chemo.

2 weeks down! 🫶🏼🫶🏼
